Hideki Arai—the great manga artist behind Miyamoto kara Kimi e, The World Is Mine, Kiichi!! and Hito no Ko—has continued to leave a deep mark on many people’s lives, mine included. He is the manga artist I respect most, and I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with him on a T-shirt. For this “VS Hirata Yodom Ver.” of the Mon-nyan T-shirt sold by the Shinjuku Golden Gai bar マチュカバー, we combined original drawings created by both of us. I handled the design, and I am proud of how extraordinarily powerful and cool the result became. At the time of the announcement, black and white versions were offered through the bar’s SUZURI shop in editions of 50 each.

「宮本から君へ」「ザ・ワールド・イズ・マイン」「キーチ!!」「ひとのこ」など数々の衝撃的作品を世に放ち、僕を含め多くの人の人生に深い爪痕を刻み続ける偉大な漫画家、新井英樹先生。僕が最も尊敬する漫画家である新井先生と、なんとTシャツ製作でコラボレーションしました。 新宿ゴールデン街「マチュカバー」が販売している新井先生画による「モンにゃんTシャツ」の “VS 平田澱 Ver.” ということで、2人の描き下ろし原画を融合したデザインになっています。デザインは僕が担当しましたが、我ながらとんでもなくパワフルでカッコいいTシャツができたと自負しています。 告知時点では、SUZURIのマチュカバーショップで黒Ver.と白Ver.が各50枚限定で販売されていました。
